Coming soon: a new Module and an extended Software offer

At Decawave, our focus is to deliver state of the art integrated circuits to our customers. But we acknowledge that time is of the essence and delivering more integrated solutions that reduce design cycles is also critical. This is the reason why we will launch in the coming months a new module and an extended software offer aiming at facilitating the integration of our technology in your products.
The new module will embed the DW1000, a Nordic nRF52 MCU/BLE SoC and an accelerometer. A complete system that, by simply adding a battery and a casing, will turn into a tag for your RTLS application. Coming in a side castellation format, it will also be easy to add it to your designs whether it is an anchor, a gateway or a more advanced tag.
The module will comply with industrial temperature range, -40°c to +85°c. We have also put a lot of effort into designing a cost-effective product that will meet the requirements of low and medium volume applications.
On the software side, we will deliver a much richer offer with a MAC layer, 6LowPAN, Mesh capability, TDMA and a TWR location scheme. The software will come in a binary format with a full set of APIs allowing you to add your own application on top of the Decawave software. An Android, as well as a PC-based reference design application, will complete the offer to let you configure and visualize your system in real time.

Beacons embrace Decawave technology

Estimote – a leading beacon manufacturer – has officialised the adoption of Decawave technology for its next generation product. By combining BLE and UWB, Estimote will be able to solve one of the critical hurdles for the mass deployment of beacons – the deployment challenge. Currently, a time and resource consuming process, the commissioning and mapping of venues will now take a few seconds and be fully automatized reducing the cost of deployment. The Estimote developers kit is already shipping and available for order.

Welcome to our new partners: Wiser, ZigPOS, Tracktio and Eliko

Four new partners have recently joined the Decawave partnership program to bring their expertise - hardware, software, systems integrators - and help our customers quickly build great end products.

WISER Systems' FCC-Certified Mesh Locator system is powered by Redundant Radio Localization Technology (RRLT) for longer-range (up to 300 meters LOS) and highly accurate (under 1 meter) 3-D positioning.  The WISER RRLT mesh is self-configuring and simple to install (no electricians needed) and infinitely scaleable.  RRLT Mini-Tracker tags are very small (about the size of a guitar pick), have long-life batteries (up to 10 years), two-way data capabilities, and customer-configurable update rates.

Zigpos designs and provides turnkey RTLS for mass market applications. Its hybrid solution of 2,4 GHz PDOA ranging and Decawave UWB technology enables max. 500m LOS distance measurements and sub 30cm accuracy. The German engineering team embeds the RTLS infrastructure into its sensor network for building automation. This simplifies RTLS deployments for large areas considerably because neither electricians nor IT staff will be needed anymore.

Tracktio's solution focuses on industrial and logistics use cases. Tracktio provides international partners with modular or full-stack RTLS solutions, including a white-label asset and people tracking software and integration API.
Eliko is an electronics and software company with nearly 15 years of experience in developing ranging and communication systems. Eliko’s Decawave-related product, the KIO RTLS is an FCC and CE certified system for reliable positioning in demanding environments. It is currently used in over ten industries, including manufacturing, sports and retail.

Microsoft challenge

The 2017 Microsoft Indoor Location competition will take place in Pittsburgh on April 18th and 19th. In 2016, the Decawave based solutions trusted the podium with Quantitec/Intranav achieving an impressive 23cm 3D accuracy and Sunsend a 29cm 3D accuracy. Decawave will be present in Pittsburgh to support this year competitors, if you are also attending and want to meet let us know at info@decawave.com!
