IC Design Engineer

 

Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Manager and based in the Company’s headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, the IC Design Engineer:

  • Is responsible for the design, implementation and verification of IC digital/baseband blocks/subsystems and contribute to the design of evaluation systems, test harnesses, IC test boards etc.
  • Works as part of a cross-functional team to deliver the next generation products from concept to volume production
  • Supports concurrent engineering activities to ensure on-going production of quality products with high yield
  • Supports applications team to maximize revenue from current products

 

Duties include:

  • Design and document digital/baseband blocks/systems as required using RTL coding techniques
  • Perform design verification of relevant blocks/subsystems
  • Work with IC physical designers on synthesis, power optimisation, formal verification and timing closure
  • Create the necessary design and product documentation and host design reviews
  • Characterise prototypes, developing test specifications and coordinate with test/product engineering to drive product releases
  • Actively participate in silicon bring-up and characterisation testing
  • Design and synthesis for FPGA as prototype and emulation platform for IC development

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of complete Digital ASIC Design flow (specification, frontend RTL Design, Verification, STA (static timing analyse) DFT and physical implementation)
  • In depth knowledge of IC Design Flow: IP Evaluation and Selection, Analog/Digital partitioning in mixed-signal systems
  • Knowledge of:

 Key productivity / performance metrics
 System Verilog
 FPGA synthesis tools and flow
 Matlab
 Scripting languages (C, Perl, Python)
 Low power IC design techniques

  • Familiarity with designing in CMOS 90nm or less nodes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work on own initiative to come up with innovative solutions
  • At least 5 years of experience in relevant product development
